[Event] Greater Style, Greater Care with Philips KeraShine ❤

Have you ever noticed women can't live without styling their hair with hair tools whenever they want to go out for outings, events and etc? Many women style their hair at home nowadays with various products across a range of brands since it's so much convenient to style according to the styles you want. However, improper use or inferior products might result in damaged hair.

To encounter this problem, Philips launched the new Philips KeraShine range which is infused with Keratin, a naturally occurring substance and a key component in the structure of hair. With this KeraShine range, it helps to keep your hair smooth and shiny, while the built-in ionic conditioners keeps frizz at bay.

Let me take a selfie with Philips Media pass first. LOL!

I was one of the lucky bloggers to be able to witness the launch of this KeraShine range and at the same time trying them out too. Philips Malaysia team also briefed us on what is keratin all about and the reasons why they have come up with this KeraShine range.

A short description about Keratin:

"Keratin is an extremely strong protein which is a major component in skin, hair, nails, hooves, horns and teeth. The amino acids which combine to form keratin have several unique properties and depending on the levels of the various amino acids, keratin can be inflexible and hard, like hooves, or soft, as is the case with skin. Most of the keratin that people interact with is actually dead; hair, skin and nails are all formed from dead cells which the body sheds as new cells push up from underneath. If the dead cells are kept in good condition, they will serve as an insulating layer to protect the delicate new keratin below them. Damage to the external (dead) layer of keratin can cause skin, hair and nails to look unhealthy. "

Philips team also invited Chezz Technique team to demonstrate on how to style and care for your lovely locks with the new KeraShine hair tools which comprises of KeraShine Heated Styler, KeraShine Dryer and KeraShine Straightener.

Curls can be done by using the Heated Styler
You can also get wavy hair by using the Heated Styler too.

Philips team was kind to organise an activity for the members of the media on that night. We were divided into 4 groups with each group had to come up with idea to create creative hairstyles on the hair mannequin. The most creative hairstyle from the group will win hair treatment vouchers from Chezz Technique.

Instead of using the hair mannequin, my team members decided to style my hair. Chezz Technique team was so kind to help us to curl and style my hair since we were only given 45 minutes.

We gave some of ideas to the Chezz Technique team and at the same time they helped us to style my hair using the new KeraShine Heated Styler.

Since we only managed to grab flower crown to add on as accessories, we try to create a hairstyle which made me looked like a princess. *wide grin*

Even though my team did not win the contest, I am glad to know my members. Chezz Technique team and my team members did a great job!! Thank you for making me feel like a princess for a few minutes! *winkz*

I got to say that this new KeraShine range from Philips is a-must-try range especially the KeraShine Heated Styler. Who would actually expect that this Heated Styler can be used to comb your with their retractable bristles and curl your locks at the same time? Best of all, this Heated Styler is infused with Keratin which will keep your hair smooth and shiny, while the built-in ionic technology keeps your hair beautiful, healthy and frizz-free.

I am not going to elaborate much of the KeraShine products here and instead I will do a review of these hair tools in my next blog post. So do stay tuned to my blog post on these awesome KeraShine products from Philips. =)

Thank you Philips Malaysia for having me! The Philips KeraShine range is available at the Philips Brand Store at Public Shopping Gallery, major electrical and departmental stores and on

Say Goodbye to Monster Pores with Laneige Mini Pore Range ❤

Laneige has introduced the all-new Mini Pore range which is the perfect duo to complement the BB Cushion Pore Control. With Laneige's all-new Mini Pore range and the BB Cushion Pore Control, you will have flawless skin in no time. Laneige's Mini Pore range which comprises of the Mini Pore Waterclay Mask and Mini Pore Blurring Tightener will first be deployed onto your skin to manage those pores.

Excessive sebum and monster pores are the biggest deterrents in achieving a perfect, flawless makeup finish. Dry skin, ageing and sagging skin as well as oily skin can cause pores to enlarge. Oily skin with overactive oil glands also causes blockage in pores which would result in inflammation within the pores besides causing the pores to enlarge. Without proper care, these pores can enlarge to become monster pores and eventually they will get larger over time.

L-R: Mini Pore Blurring Tightener and Mini Pore Waterclay Mask
The Laneige team introduced to us the Mini Pore range which is Mini Pore Blurring Tightener and Mini Pore Waterclay Mask and at the same time introduced the BB Cushion Pore Control. Mini Pore Waterclay Mask is a naturally extracted mud from the Shinan area, the only 1st grade uncontaminated area of mud flat and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The clay has excellent sebum absorption with its fine particles and large surface area from its holes.

This Waterclay Mask is a watery gel-type clay that works effectively to control excessive sebum, tightens pores and supplies moisture to dry pores. It is formulated with Pore Minimising, a formula which contains Mint Water. Mint Water strengthens the skin's barrier by supplying moisture to the skin and by providing care for pore dryness. It also contains Pine Needle Extract which prevents the enlargement of pores by controlling excessive sebum secretion.

Mini Pore Waterclay Mask, 70ml - RM100

Clinical tests done on the Mini Pore Waterclay Mask have shown that 93% of respondents felt that their skin has tightened while 91% of them said their skin texture feels smoother and softer after washing in the morning. The Mini Pore Water Clay Mask also works to remove blackheads while clearing up impurities that are stuck in the pores.

Mini Pore Blurring Tightener, 40ml - RM135

Mini Pore Blurring Tightener is an embossed skincare to control oil shine and to tighten pores. It also works to blur pore lines and care for enlarged and dry pores caused by excessive sebum secretion. The Blurring Tightener is formulated with Pore Minimizing with Mint Water and Pine Needle Extracts which is similar to the Mini Pore Waterclay Mask. The combination of these extracts strengthens the skin's barrier by supplying moisture to the skin while treating pore dryness.

Besides that it also controls excessive sebum secretion to prevent further enlargement of pores. The Blurring Tightener will boost the effects of prior skincare steps, control oil and sebum production and lastly prevent pore enlargement from accelerating and it is used as the last step in the skincare regime.

Next step is to introduce  BB Cushion Pore Control while monster pores are managed and well taken care of, the next step is to achieve flawless makeup. Definitely with the Laneige BB Cushion Pore Control, you will only need 2.5 seconds for a beautiful flawless skin. BB Cushion Pore Control has been in the market for quite sometime now and they reintroduce it to complement the Mini Pore range.

I personally a fan of Laneige BB Cushion Pore Control and I am satisfied with their BB Cushion as it helps to achieve a perfect, flawless, pore-free makeup finish as it is formulated to target large pores. It comes with 7 shades to suit all different skin tone from fair to dark.

It contains Pore Purifying Complex, formulated with Melia, Keratinase and Salicylic Acid that works to remove poison and waste (from excessive sebum and external pollutants) around the pores while at the same time improves the skin capability to defend the skin, preventing it from forming sebum oxidation and inflammation that can cause acne and blemishes.

Besides that, it offers strong UV Protection with SPF 50+ / PA+++ coupled with a sweat-prooof formula. It also provides a cooling sensation upon application as it reduces the skin's temperature by 3˚C.

Advanced 6 Multi Benefits with 1 Touch
1. Pore Control
2. Pore Coverage
3. Semi-matte finish
4. Water Resistant
5. Soothing Effect
6. UV Protection

Mini Pore Range - The Perfect Duo to Complement the BB Cushion Pore Control

In this event, the bloggers were divided into 6 groups to do a short video shoot on Flawless Makeup in 2.5 seconds. We were only allowed to shoot the videos using our smartphones and no special camera / video recorder needed in this contest. You may check out our short video clip here.

Fortunately, my team mate which consists of Shivani and Sarah won the 1st prize in this video contest. Thank you Sarah for putting so much effort to edit the video and Shivani for the awesome ideas. We were lucky to have won Laneige products and manicure voucher. Thank you Laneige Malaysia for coming up with this video contest! *wide grin*

A photo with Kelly all thanks to Shivani. (:

[Food Review] Experience Authentic Vietnamese Cuisine @ Royale Vietnam ❤

Vietnamese cuisine encompasses the food and beverage of Vietnam and features a combination of 5 fundamental tastes in the overall meal. Each Vietnamese dish has a distinctive flavour which reflects one or more of these elements.

Since it was my second trying Vietnamese cuisine, I thought I would like to give it a try for the second time. This time, while browsing through Ensogo, I choose to try in Royale Vietnam which is located in Starhill Gallery

Royale Vietnam @ Starhill Gallery

This All-You-Can-Eat-Buffet deal from Royale Vietnam lets you have a taste of extravagant without mortgaging your homes at Royale Vietnam by ordering anything from the menu except for certain dishes:

- Dancing Peacock
- Pomelo Salad
- Caesar Salad
- Baby Short Ribs with BBQ Sauce
- Royale Vietnam Pan Fried Cod Fish
- Mineral Water
- Alcoholic Beverages

Royale Vietnam doesn't serve pork which is a plus point. This will definitely give the opportunity for the Malay patrons to dine in and try Vietnamese cuisine. With a predominance of rice, noodles, wheat, beans, fresh vegetables and herbs and minimum oil usage, Vietnamese food is without doubt one of the healthiest cuisines. Often referred to as "the nouvelle cuisine of Asia", the contrasting favours, varied textures and exotic ingredients provide a range of fragrant delights for the contemporary kitchen.

Here's some of the dishes that we have ordered:

Fresh Spring Roll - RM14.90

This Fresh Spring Roll is a combination of garden vegetables, herbs, vermicelli noodles and fresh shrimp, wrapped in rice paper. These spring rolls are a refreshing change from the usual fried variety and have become a family favourite. They are great as a cool appetiser and tasted delicious dipped in one or both of the sauces. However, it's better to be eaten immediately after it was served as the rice paper might be hard after exposed for too long.

Seafood Mango Salad - RM18.90

This Seafood Mango Salad is a refreshing salad served with sliced mango, agar, mixed vegetables, shrimps, sweet and sour lime fish sauce as dressing. This Seafood Mango Salad is another refreshing appetiser. The green mangoes mixed with the salad are not sour and are blended well with the shrimps and sauce.

Royal Vietnam Beef Noodle Soup - RM28.90

It's a classic Vietnamese "Must Try" dish served with beef slices, tender beef balls, herbs and flat rice noodle over the beef broth that has been boiled over 20 hours. This beef noodle soup has to be one of my favourite dish in Vietnamese cuisine. The chewy noodles with the savoury broth is good. The broth has a light texture and since I don't take beef, I do not have much comments on the texture of the beef.

Steamed Prawn with Young Coconut - RM48.90

Steamed Prawn with Young Coconut is served with juicy steamed prawns hanging on a coconut. It's a surprise dish served with flame style. Overall, I find that the prawns are slightly overcooked. Nevertheless, the coconut juice is absorbed well into the prawns that the prawns have the coconut taste in it.

Royale Vietnam Grilled Scallop - RM32.90

This Royale Vietnam Grilled Scallop is a grilled scallop wrapped with beef bacon, capsicum slices, onion and their very own special BBQ sauce. The scallop is juicy and tender. The dish is somehow a tad spicy and the dish comes with only two sticks of grilled scallop which is not worth the price.

Lotus Seed Fried Rice - RM24.90

This Lotus Seed Fried Rice is fried with mixed vegetables, egg and lotus seed wrapped with lotus leaf. Somehow this dish is quite disappointing. The dish turned out not to be wrapped with lotus leaf which I was happily looking forward to. However, overall presentation was ok except for the missing lotus leaf. On the taste wise, it was just right for me.

As you can see that the mainstream culinary traditions in Vietnam share some fundamental features such as:

  • Freshness of food: Vegetables are eaten fresh if they are boiled or only stir-fried.
  • Presence of herbs and vegetables: Herbs and vegetables are essential to many Vietnamese dishes and are often abundantly used.
  • Presentation: The condiments accompanying Vietnamese cuisine are usually colourful and arranged in eye-pleasing manners.

A unique environment of mixed Chinese and Vietnamese ambience in the restaurant which somehow brings back the feel of 1960's.

We ordered only 6 dishes in total and we could not stuff ourselves with the food anymore. Overall for a price of RM68, I think it's worth trying out some Vietnamese cuisine in Royale Vietnam as it serves truly authentic Vietnamese dishes. How I wish we could order all the dishes on the menu and try all of them but I think we were too full to consume them anymore. =/

Anyway, to those who wish to try out, the Royal Vietnam deal  on Ensogo website is ending on 31st July 2015. So what are you waiting for? For more information, do check out their deal here: and to know more about Vietnamese cuisine in Royale Vietnam, visit their Facebook page:

[Food Review] You Can Choose Your Level of Spiciness with CoCo Ichibanya! ❤

Finally I had the opportunity to try out this famous curry house from Japan - CoCo Ichibanya a few weeks ago with a bunch of bloggers. Since I can't eat spicy food at all, I thought I would like to give it a try because I know Japanese curry is not spicy.

For more than 30 years, CoCo Ichibanya the famous curry house from Japan was well accepted in many countries. There are 1245 branches in Japan and other countries such as USA, China, Taiwan, South Korea and Thailand which made CoCo Ichibanya reach the number of 1350 branches worldwide and named as "The House of Japanese Curry". That derive from our uniqueness "The Tastiness You Can Choose".

CoCo Ichibanya which is located at Lower Ground Floor, New Wing (opposite Kluang Station) at 1 Utama Shopping Centre features a contemporary, friendly and casual ambiance and seats a number of people.

The unique part of this restaurant is that it allows patrons to customise their meal from the curry's level of spiciness and types of toppings to the rice and curry portions. It also offers 5 levels of spiciness for their Japanese curry, from Level 1 (Medium Hot) to Level 5 (Crazy Hot).

I had the chance to try out some of their signature dishes on that day with the rest of the bloggers. Some of their signature dishes include Pork Cutlet Curry, Lightly Crisped Chicken Curry, Black Pepper Chicken Curry, Grilled Garlic Prawn Curry, Salmon Teriyaki Curry, Salmon Cream Croquette Curry, Seafood Omelette Curry and Grilled Spinach, Bacon and Corn Curry.

Steps by Steps on How To Order (:

How to Order

1. Select the curry from Menu Book
2. Select the quantity of rice
  • 150g (-RM3)
  • 230g (RM0)
  • 350g (+RM4)
  • 450g (+RM8)
  • 550g (+RM12)

3. Spice adjustment possible
  • Mild (For children)
  • Original Flavour
  • Level 1 - Medium Hot
  • Level 2 - Hot
  • Level 3 - Extra Hot
  • Level 4 - Super Hot
  • Level 5 - Crazy Hot

4. Additional curry sauce possible
  • Standard
  • Plus 600g (+RM6)
  • Plus 200 g (+RM12)

Some of the food which was served on that night were Beef Yakiniku Curry, Beef Wagyu Steak Curry, Pork Cutlet Omelette Curry, Grilled Squid with Mayonnaise Curry and Cream Mushrom Omelette Curry.

Beef Yakiniku Curry - RM23

Beef Yakiniku Curry was served with curry of standard level. The standard level of the curry is sweet with strong curry powder. The spiciness level of the curry was acceptable for me.

Pork Cutlet Omelette Curry - RM26

Pork Cutlet Omelette Curry was served with curry of Level 1. I managed to try out this Level 1 curry and it turned out fine for me. The pork cutlet was still crispy and juicy even though  it was already cold.

Next up would be Beef Wagyu Steak Curry which was served with curry of Level 2. The spiciness of the curry started to kick in. However I still managed to eat it. On the lighter note, the beef was a bit undercooked for me as I prefer it to be fully cooked.

Beef Wagyu Steak Curry - RM48

Cream Mushroom Omelette Curry was served with curry of Level 3. I was surprised that cream mushroom actually blends well with the served curry. In fact the taste of the curry is not that strong when you mix well with the cream sauce.

Cream Mushroom Omelette Curry - RM23

Grilled Squid with Mayonnaise Curry was the final dish served on that day. It was served with curry of Level 4. The grilled squid was slightly overcooked but it was still juicy. I tasted the curry and it was too expensive.

Grilled Squid with Mayonnaise Curry - RM24

There are many types of beverages served in CoCo Ichibanya too. Here are some of the drinks which were ordered by the bloggers. (:

Other than curry, CoCo Ichibanya also serves salads for the patrons to try. One of my favourite salad would be Smoked Salmon Salad which is highly recommended from the restaurant.

Smoked Salmon Salad - RM10

The salad was served with their salad dressing which is really good. The salmon was slight too salty and I would prefer if they do not marinate it (they have to marinate it before smoke) before hand because salmon is best served in original flavour! :D The salad is only priced at RM10 and by far this is the cheapest salmon salad that I have ever tried.

Bacon and Pumpkin Salad - RM8
Another salad that I kinda love it. Bacon and Pumpkin Salad serves well with their own salad dressing and I like how the taste of the pumpkin mixed well with the vegetables and bacon. *thumbs up* Apart from that, I find that the bacon was slightly dry and it works well with the vegetables and pumpkin. Frankly speaking, I have not tried pumpkin salad before and I got to say that this is one of the nicest thing I have ever tried (:

Mr Lim, the boss of CoCo Ichibanya 1 Utama was so kind and friendly. He also prepared some desserts for us to try. Desserts such Matcha and Vanilla Ice Cream (RM12), Matcha Ice Cream (RM6), and Vanilla Ice Cream (RM6) were served before we called it a day.

Overall Review
I would suggest to you guys to mix the curry with the rice before you eat it to enjoy more authentic taste of the Japanese curry. I was only able to take up to Level 3 which is Extra Hot. I tasted the curry of Level 5 (Crazy Hot). It was served in a separate plate for those who can take up spicy food. It was spicy a little at first. However, if you leave it on your mouth for too long, you will definitely feel the spiciness of the curry. I can only mix a small portion of curry with a bigger portion of rice to ensure that it's not too spicy for me.

For a girl who can't take spicy food like me, I personally think that the spiciness of the curry is bearable. But of course I could not take anything higher than Level 3 because the spiciness has already started to kick in. Overall the experience was amazing and if I had the chance to come again, I would love to try their other signature dishes. (:

Of course not forgetting a selfie of Choulyin and I. (:

Thank you Butterfly Project and CoCo Ichibanya for having us. I truly enjoyed the company with a bunch of bloggers. To those who wish to know more about other dishes, please check out their Facebook page here: Ichibanya is located at Lower Ground Floor, New Wing (opposite Kluang Station) at 1 Utama Shopping Centre.
