Why I Want to Visit Taiwan? ❤

I grew up in a family of 5, studying in Sekolah Kebangsaan school since young. I was brought up in a family who can speak both Chinese and English. I may not good at writing Chinese characters or read  but I can speak good Chinese (I guess so?).

At the very young age, my aunt and my dad always teach us on how to speak our own dialect which is Hokkien or Teo Chew and thanks to both of them, I am good at speaking both dialects now. I was also influenced by my aunt to watch Taiwan Hokkien dramas those days.

Well, speaking of Taiwan, what comes in my mind is Taiwan dramas. I enjoy watching Taiwan dramas especially love dramas. Visiting Taiwan has always been my wish since many many years ago. I always wanted to go to Taiwan and explore some of the amazing places especially when I watched those pretty places that were shown on the Taiwan dramas.

One of my all-time favourite drama, Meteor Garden. :P

Anyway there are a few reasons why I want to visit Taiwan. First of all, I wish to visit Shihlin Night Market located in the Shihlin District, Taipei. It is considered as one of the largest and most famous night market in the city. Since I have heard of Shihlin XXL Chicken Chop in Malaysia, definitely I would love to try out this Chicken Chop back in Taiwan.

Shihlin Night Market

I wish to go to this Night Market because I love to eat. I personally enjoy travelling around Malaysia to look for fresh and delicious food and definitely this is a MUST place to visit in Taiwan. Food that were sold in the night market normally are Fried Chicken Chop, Peanut Candy, Oyster Omelette, Tempura, Lemon 'Aiyu' Jelly, Stinky Tofu, Pearl Milk Tea and famous Oyster Vermicelli.

Time to take some fresh air. Do not forget that Taiwan has a lot of beautiful places that I must visit. One of these tourist attractions is Alishan National Scenic Park. This Alishan National Park is a mountain resort and natural preserve located in the mountains of Chiayi County in Taiwan.

This place  is popular among tourists and mountain climbers and Mount Ali itself has become one of the major landmarks associated with Taiwan. Besides that I want  to witness this place because this area is famous for its production of high mountain tea and wasabi. Of course, take a short break and enjoy its sunrises which is famous in Alishan .

Since I am a Chinese tea lover, I will not skip this opportunity to witness tea plantations which are located in Shanlinxi and Lishan. My dad has a huge collection of Chinese tea and I wish to see how teas are produced with my own eyes.

As I know 3/4 of Taiwan's land is made up of mountains stretching from north to south and these popular teas farms in Lishan, Shanlinxi, Lugu and Alishan have higher altitudes than the others which proves that the quality of those teas are better than the others.

Qingshui Cliffs Taroko (Pic credits to Alfred Molon)

Most of my time in Taiwan will be allocated to places with breathtaking views which are hardly seen in Malaysia. One of the place that I would love to visit is Qingshui Cliffs Taroko. This cliff is a 21 kilometre length of coastal cliffs averaging 800 meters above sea level in Hualien, Taiwan. The tallest peak, Qingshui Mountain, rises 2408 meters directly from the Pacific Ocean. The cliff is the highest coastal cliff in Taiwan.

Changchun Eternal Spring Shrine (Pic credits to Alfred Molon)

Changchun Eternal Spring

Another place that I would not want to miss when I am in Taiwan is to visit Changchun Eternal Spring Shrine. This is a landmark and a memorial shrine complex in Tarok National Park in Taiwan in Hualien near the town of Xiulin. It is one of the major picturesque points of the park, with the view of the mountains and the waterfall and one of the main memorials for veterans. I will take a lot of photos of this place and perhaps grab a few wedding photos with my bf here? (not a bad idea too right? hehe)

Basically if I am given the chance to go Taiwan for the first time, I will take this opportunity to go for wedding photoshoot and at the same time enjoy the breathtaking views with my loved one. In this country providing such a picturesque backdrop, it's pretty exciting to get outdoors and enjoy it. A few popular calorie-burning options are hiking, cycling and rock climbing. It will be good to keep myself out of city for a while and seek for fresher air in Taiwan. There are more things to do in Taiwan but these are the few in my list that I want to go to enjoy LOHAS lifestyle.

Thank you Time for Taiwan (TTBKL) and The Butterfly Project for organising this contest. Look up to their social media platforms for more information on their travel packages and deals.

I Have A Confession To Make ❤

I have a confession to make....It took me awhile to reveal this confession. Many might not notice about it but it's pretty obvious nowadays especially when you attend a lot of events and friends around you will start noticing it.

That's right. I have SUPER UGLY BUCK TEETH. I used to NOT care about my appearance especially my teeth not until I hit puberty. My parents once offered me to go for braces when I was 9 but I rejected them because my friends told me that it's super painful. AND RIGHT NOW I REGRETTED. =/

How ugly my buck teeth is.

The obvious buck teeth. I looked like Bugs Bunny here. =/

Imagining if you could spend only two years looking ugly with that metal brackets and wires on your teeth and you will be beautiful for the rest of your life, I guess it's all worth it. But I did not think this far.

Ever since I started working, I noticed that it will be harder for me to wear braces in this society. A lot of clients will start feeling weird about my braces. "At this age, still go for braces?" "Wah, you think you are young enough still to put those steel on your teeth?" "I think she will look super ugly with the braces on the teeth".

Metal brackets on the teeth. (Credits to Google)

Lots of questions running in my head. Should I go for it or should I not?

Then I have friends around me started saying' "Aiya Janice. It's not that obvious also. You do not have to go for braces. Just be who you are."

Yeah right. Who is the one facing the teases and mocks from people around me? It's ME!

Anyway I put up a lot of courage to go on with that ugly buck tooth for 20 over years now. Hence this concluded the pursed lips smile in most of the photos taken in close shot. =/

Recent selfie taken at Nuffnang 8irthday party. (:

With Li Chuen (:

Selfie with my sister at brother's wedding 2 years ago.

I was too shy to open my mouth and smile even when I take selfie with Ming brothers. =/

I know one says that you need to show your teeth if you want a bright smile. But I tried my best to avoid those photos with teeth shown unless the photos were taken from a far where my buck teeth is not that obvious.

Just like these photos.

My convocation in 2012.

Lucky thing I managed to take nice and good photos of myself with teeth shown in my brother's wedding few years back. Here are some of the shots taken:

I always wanted to smile with my teeth and it really made a difference when one smile with pursed lips and wide smile. Sometime the pursed lips smile will make you look fake for once in awhile. So photos above are the photos which I managed to escape an embarassing moment with a bright smile. :D

To avoid embarassing moment with a bright smile, I have to smile with teeth shown at an angle. Do you guys noticed that I would choose to smile when my face is tilted to the right side? Yes. That's where you would not see the obvious buck teeth were shown.

It looks like I have a straight teeth from far.

Do you know that with the current technology, one can finally correct their crooked teeth using Invisalign treatment instead of braces? Invisalign treatment uses a custom-made series of aligners created for you that are made of smooth, comfortable and virtually invisible plastic that you wear over your teeth. Wearing the aligners will gradually and gently shift your teeth into place, based on the exact movements your dentist or othodontist plans out for you. There are no metal brackets to attach and no wires to tighten.

The Invisalign are hardly noticeable and it makes you feel comfortable and confident. It also does not irritate your gums like braces' brackets can. You also do not have to constantly visit your orthodontist for a monthly adjustment because you are able to change your aligner at home once every two weeks.

With this Invisalign, this can save up my time and money travelling back to hometown so far just to tighten the metal brackets on my teeth. Now that I can say goodbye to these metal brackets. Yay!!

Let's say if I am going for braces now with the ugly metal brackets and wires on my teeth, this is how I will look like:

P/s: Used an app to add on this braces on my ugly buck teeth.

It's been so many years with my buck teeth now and I think it's shifting again. I noticed that my Bugs Bunny teeth started to protrude more than the previous years. =/

Invisalign braces vs metal brackets braces

I think I need Invisalign treatment soon. If  I am to wear braces now, I bet no one wants to talk to a lady in metal brackets on your teeth. It just feels like having a robot friend. LOL! Thank you Nuffnang for organising this contest! :D

[Event] Pimp My Chu Lip @ KARE Cafe ❤

Speaking of events, it's been awhile since I attended events with a bunch of bloggers. Last week I was fortunate enough to attend Pimp My Chu Lip event organized by The Butterfly Project and Mentholatum. Thank you for having me!

I rushed to attend this event as I just got back from hometown on that day itself. Traffic was not smooth as expected especially on the road heading to Subang Jaya. =/ However, I managed to reach home on time and got myself changed and ready to attend this event! *whee*

Previously they had a launch of this new Chu Lip lipbalm event months ago and unfortunately I could not attend. Lucky enough that this time I am able to witness and play with this cute Chu Lip lipbalm!

FYI, Chu Lip has cute dome shape and funky colours of Red, Pink, Purple and Green. With its unique design, moisturising properties and easy glide-on formula, Chu Lip lipbalm has become a favourite among the ladies.

There are 4 different scents to suit your mood. Pink - Paris, Perfect Memories to feel the eternal love of sweet berry scent with its unique mix of raspberry and peach flavour. Apply Red - New York, Brilliant My Way and be dazzled with the powerful fruity scent of Apple, Ginger and Tea Rose. Try Purple - Arabian, Floral Shower and experience the magic spell of elegant flower scent of Rose, Germanium and Clove. You may want to grab the Green - Nordic, Fancy Nostalgia and enter the world of fairytale surrounded with the refreshing scent of Orange, Lime and Mango.

There were 50 of us in the event participating in the Pimp My Chu Lip event. Basically there are lots of pretty accessories and blings for us to choose from and we could decorate our Chu Lip lip balm with our own creativity.

Since I was the last few ones to get the accessories, there were not many accessories left for me to choose. Thank god I had a bit of threads, beads and a pair of eyes to decorate my lil Chu Lip.
Of course while waiting for the announcement of the results, girls would never forget to take selfies! I am happy to meet up with Vivian whom I met her in Laneige K-Beauty Blogger event in 2013. It's nice to see her around and of course not forgetting Cookie, my new friend (:

Vivian and I.

Cookie and I. (:

Don't forget my bestie, Ah Dan and I (:
A pretty wefie of us. Thanks Vivian for the photo! (:
The top 5 who won the most creative and attractive designs on Chu Lip lip balm walked away with Haagen Dazs vouchers and Casio watches! :D Cookie was also one of the winner too! Congrats babe (:

Congratulations to the winners! I lacked of idea to decorate my Chu Lip as I just got back from hometown (which is 3 hours drive from hometown to KL) and my lil ugly Chu Lip did not win any prizes. Anyway I am not going to show the ugly Chu Lip because it's really UGLY! T.T

All the creative artwork from 50 of us.
Mentholatum is also kind to organize a contest in search for the most outstanding creative Chu Lip designs to create more excitement for its fans. Participants of this contest can decorate their Chu Lip in their own style with a little creativity, then take a photo of their finished creative artwork and upload it onto www.chulip.com.my/pimpmychulip in order to be in the running to win an iPad Mini 3 this time or a set of Chu Lip lipbalm with 5 sets to be won. So, get creative! 'Pimp My Chu Lip' is a campaign by Mentholatum in partnership with Watsons, which will be ongoing from 5th March until 30th March 2015.

Pretty cupcakes (:

If you have not got yourself a Chu Lip lipbalm, head over to any leading pharmacy or major supermarket nearby and purchase it for only RM25.90 each. All Chu Lip lipbalms are formulated with a delicious blend of recipes as well as being enhanced with moisturizing ingredients of Olive Oil, Macadamia Nut Oil and Rose Hip Oil for healthy and happy lips.
